The autamn maraphone for gallerists

 

Outside's still summer, but now it's time to plan your schedule in September. Especially as the beginning of autumn promises to be very, very rich in terms of cultural events persuasion. So, make to your calendar:

Dublin Contemporary, 06.09.11 - 31.10.2011: The exhibition will feature work of 90 artists. The event is positioned as the first international event for contemporary art, taking place in Ireland. As an epigraph to the exhibition organizers have chosen the famous Irish poet-line, WB Yeats's "Easter 1916" - "a terrible beauty is born."

headlining show will be: Thomas Hirschhorn, Nina Berman, David Zink Yi, Brian O'Doherty, Alice Neel and Lisa Yuskavage.Irish Art will present James Coleman, Maired O'heocha, Niamh O'Malley, Brian Maguire and Corban Walker.

Shanghai Contemporary 2011, 8-10.09.2011 - the fifth Shanghai trade fair of contemporary art, that will take place under the patronage of Massimo Torrigiani, and to be held in the main exhibition center in Shanghai. The exhibition presents a collection of about 90 dealers, two-thirds of which have their own gallery in China. Among the most important participants are mentioned: James Cohan (China), Eigen + Art (Berlin), Greenaway (Adelaide), Nature Morte (Delhi) and Schuebbe Projects (Dusseldorf).

Lyon Biennial 2011, 15.09.2011 - 31.12.2011 - Biennale will bring together 78 artists from 23 countries. The curator of the event was Victoria Noortorn (Victoria Noorthorn). Houston Fine Art Fair, 16-18.09.2011 - in the venue George R. Brown Conventional Center in Houston will be an event designed to gather key players of the art market. The organizers promise that this year the main theme of the exhibition will be the art of Latin America. Among the participants stated the following Houston artists: Babcock, Haunch of Venison, Hollis Taggart, Schroeder Romero Shredder, Margaret Thatcher, Pavel Zoubok and ULAE.And the guests: Caprice Horn (Berlin), Grimaldis (Baltimore), David Lusk (Memphis), Lowenstein (Miami), Douglas Dawson (Chicago), Frey Norris (San Francisco) and Ginocchio (Mexico City).

Art Beat Istanbul, 14-18.09.2011 - the new fair of contemporary art, to be held in parallel with the Istanbul Biennial. Mastermind behind the event will become Arhan Kayar, well-known figure of the modern Turkish art. In the exhibition, that will be held in the venue Lüfti Kirdar Convention and Exhibition Centre will participate almost 30 galleries, most of them - Turkey.

12th Istanbul Biennial, 17.09.11 - 13.11.11 - Biennale, organized by the critic of Sao Paolo, curators Adriano Pedrosa and CAA Wattis led by Jens Hoffmann, conceived as "Nameless", but one of its goals to see and "study the relationship between art and policy. Among the participants of this show without a name expected: Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Allora & Calzadilla, Kutlug Ataman, Mark Bradford, Tom Burr, Matt Collishaw, Claire Fontaine, Mona Hatoum, Ernesto Neto, Raymond Pettibon, Mungo Thompson and Elmgreen and Dragset.

15th Art Moscow, 21-25.09.2011 - an exhibition to be held in Central House of Artists - promises to collect about 40 galleries. Among the largest Russian exhibitors mentioned Gulmana gallery, Triumph, XL, Aidan, as well as foreign players - Collage Habana and La Acacia (Havana), Forbslom (Helsinki), Shiraishi (Tokyo), and Zvono (Belgrade).

Moscow Biennale of Contemporary art, 22.09.2011-30.10.2011 - this year the exhibition will be held for the fourth time and will bring together 80 artists from 33 countries. Project Title sounds like "Rewriting the worlds." The project was organized Backstein Joseph.

Curator of the project is Peter Weibel, among the authors is awaiting such stars of the art-world, as an Indian artist Shilpa Gupta, German Neo Rauch and Gerhard Richter, the famous Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, a dissident, a French art band Claire Fontaine, co-founder of pop artBriton Richard Hamilton, a group of Random International, the Japanese artist Manabu Ikeda.

Among the Russian participants of an exhibition which will be held at Central Department Store and Artplay - the group "Blue Soup" and "Electroboutique" Elena Elagina, Igor Makarevich, Alena Gutkin, Valery Chtak, Olga Kiseleva, Taisa Korotkov.

organizers and curators of the Biennale promised that the main exhibition will be difficult to read, and it will be a balance between "high-tech projects and their artistic component."
